It is never too late.
In 2021 my heart stopped for twenty minutes. I came back with less time and more clarity than I have ever had. Here is what that did to the way I build.
I want to tell you something I do not lead with often, because it explains everything else I do.
A few years ago my body quit on me. Severe complications, organs shutting down, twenty minutes without a heartbeat, and a family being told to prepare for the version of me that might not come back whole. I came back all the way. Clearer than before, if I am honest, and with a kind of purpose I did not have when I was younger and had all the time in the world.
When you get told your number was almost up, one thing goes quiet: the excuse. The idea that you will start the real thing later. That you are too far along, or not far enough. That the timing has to be perfect. I do not believe in any of that anymore, and I built a company around not believing in it.
What the excuse actually is
When a business owner tells me it is too late, they almost never mean age. They mean they are tired. They mean they have been carrying the whole thing on their back for years, and the idea of one more push is the thing they cannot face. I understand that completely. I am not going to tell you to push harder.
I am going to tell you the push is the problem. If your business only moves when you shove it, then of course it feels too late. You are exhausted, and the machine is you. Take yourself out of the middle of it, build something that runs without your shoulder against it, and late stops meaning anything. You have time again. Time is the whole prize.
This is the part I care about most
The technology is real and I love it, but it was never the point. The point is a person getting their evenings back. A person watching their kid's game instead of chasing a lead. A person who thought the good chapter was behind them finding out it was not.
That is my calling, and I am done being quiet about it. Bring me the hard part. It is never too late to build the thing that finally builds for you.
